What’s New & What Matters This Month

A quiet storm season is good news for homeowners and a tougher stretch for the people who rebuild after them. With the Atlantic on its slowest start in decades, this month's iink Pulse focuses on what's worth doing with the lull: clearing stalled claims, cleaning up your records, and getting set for whatever the rest of the year brings. You'll also find new updates that cut manual work out of your submissions, a look at what the season data actually signals for the rest of the year, and an introduction to Serene from The iink Crew.

What's new in the product

New

Loss Details Fill Themselves In:

Upload your scope of loss and iink now pulls the loss details straight from it, including ACV, RCV, loss type, and date of loss. Less typing, fewer transcription errors, and one less step between you and submission.

New

Everyone Stays in the Loop on Messages:

All stakeholders on a claim are now notified when a message is posted in the app. Previously only those who had registered an account received message notifications, so anyone who hadn't signed up could miss important updates on their claim.

Tips of the month

Make the Slow Season Count

Clear out your stalled claims.

Pull up anything that's been sitting and find the one missing piece, whether it's a signature, a document, or a stakeholder who never responded. These are the files that turn into headaches when you're busy again.

Clean up your stakeholder records.

Update contact information for the professionals, contractors, and adjusters you work with regularly. Accurate details now mean faster submissions later, since recent stakeholders can be added to new drafts without re-entering anything.

Pull an export and look at your own numbers.

Use the dashboard export to download your claim check history with timestamps for submission, signatures, endorsements, and clearing. It's the easiest way to see where your files actually slow down.

Confirm your payout details are current.

Verify your bank account and payout method are set up correctly before you need them, so nothing holds up a disbursement when the pace picks back up.

Revisit your plan.

Check your usage against what you're paying for. A slower stretch is a good time to confirm your plan still fits how your team works.

Check who's already on iink.

Before you submit a check with a public adjuster or contractor on it, reach out and ask whether they're on the iink platform, then get their correct information. Mismatched details are one of the most common causes of signature delays.

The Quietest Season in 60 Years, and Why It Isn't Over

The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is off to its least active start in at least 60 years, with five short-lived tropical storms and, as of early September, not a single hurricane. If none forms by September 11, it will set a record for the latest first hurricane of the satellite era.

Read the full breakdown

What's driving the quiet:

  • An intensifying El Niño, which increases wind shear across the Atlantic basin and can shred storms before they develop or weaken the ones that form
  • Five named storms so far (Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly and Edouard), none of which lasted long or reached hurricane strength
  • Accumulated cyclone energy running exceptionally low compared with a typical season
  • NOAA holding its below-normal forecast, with a 75% chance of below-normal activity for the season

What this means for iink customers:

A quiet peak does not mean a quiet finish. Hurricane season runs through November 30, and warm water outside the areas most affected by El Niño means conditions could still turn.

  • Storm-driven claim volume has been light, but a single late-season landfall can change that in a week
  • Non-catastrophe losses like fire, water damage, and hail keep moving regardless of the tropics
  • The time to tighten your process is before the pace picks up, not during
  • Staying ready costs little in a slow month and pays for itself in a busy one

Team Lead of Claims Support

What’s your role at iink, and what does a typical day look like?

As Team Lead of Claims Support, I oversee all inbound communications and manage our team in processing iink check deposits. My day-to-day involves monitoring call and chat queues, tracking ticket volume, running biweekly 1-on-1s and team meetings and resolving complex inquiries to keep operations running smoothly. My primary focus every day is empowering my team with the support they need to deliver exceptional service.

What’s something you enjoy most about working at iink?

Serving as a dedicated support system for my team is what I enjoy most. Whether it’s guiding someone through a tough case, streamlining a workflow, or celebrating an individual milestone, helping my team succeed is the most rewarding part of my day.

What’s a recent moment where you felt proud to help a customer?

I recently helped a property owner who was having trouble with his insurance estimate. I walked him through downloading the file from his email first and uploading it to our system. He was so grateful for the patience and step-by-step guidance, which made the extra effort entirely worth it.

What’s something customers might not realize about how iink works behind the scenes?

Behind every smooth deposit is a dedicated team manually reviewing and double-checking check details to guarantee accuracy and fast processing.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give customers to get the most out of iink?

Ensure your check images are clear with no visible shadows. Blurry photos or shadows are common causes of deposit delays, so taking a moment to check photo quality before submitting makes a huge difference. And if you ever get stuck, reach out. We're always happy to help!

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of work, I balance two totally different worlds: I love high-adrenaline outdoor adventures, but when I'm staying in, I enjoy crocheting.
