What's new in the product
Clearer Messaging for Unsupported Mortgage Companies:
When a check includes a supported mortgage but another mortgage company on it isn't yet supported, we now restate that clearly in the stakeholders section after submission, so you always know exactly where each party stands.
More Reliable Sign Button:
We resolved an issue where the sign button could be missing from the dashboard when a homeowner didn't sign or select "sign later" during submission. It now appears consistently so signatures never stall.

Why Claim Volume Is Falling, and Why What's Left Is More Complex
A new report from Verisk Property and Restoration Solutions points to a quieter reason behind falling claim counts: shifting policy language is putting more of each loss back on the policyholder. U.S. property claim volume fell 8.9% year over year in the first quarter of 2026 and ran about 13% below the five-year average, even as the cost of the average claim keeps climbing.

What's driving the trend:
- Wider use of actual-cash-value-only provisions, which reduce what policyholders recover on a loss
- Percentage-based deductibles becoming standard, so a homeowner might owe 2% of the home's value to repair even a modest water loss
- Wind and hail deductibles applied far more consistently than in the past, leaving insureds to absorb more of each loss and file fewer claims
- Severity still rising, with the average claim on track to rank among the highest on record
What this means for iink customers:
As policyholders shoulder more of each loss, they file fewer claims, so the ones that do move forward carry higher value and higher expectations.
- Every claim that proceeds is worth more, making speed and full recovery non-negotiable
- More complex, higher-dollar claims mean more documentation and more parties to coordinate
- Transparent status keeps clients confident when the stakes on a single claim are high
- Faster disbursement protects your margin when there are fewer claims to go around
In their words
Averill & Reaney is a law firm that represents homeowners and business owners in denied or underpaid property-insurance claims. I’m the firm’s Accounting Manager, and one of my responsibilities is processing insurance checks and helping our clients receive their settlement funds in an expedited and efficient manner. Andre serves as the firm’s Director of Business Development and Firm Administrator, so my role includes overseeing many of the operational processes that help our clients receive their insurance proceeds as efficiently as possible.
Processing checks involving mortgage companies was incredibly labor-intensive. Every mortgage company seemed to have different requirements, and figuring out what paperwork was needed often required repeated phone calls, emails, and follow-ups. Mortgage companies can hold onto insurance proceeds for far too long, even though that money belongs to the client. Managing that process for multiple clients quickly became overwhelming for our team and took up a significant amount of time.
iink has made the process much more organized and manageable. It helps identify exactly what paperwork is required and gives us a clearer path for getting each check processed. Instead of spending hours calling mortgage companies, tracking down requirements, and following up repeatedly, I can rely on iink to help keep the process moving.
The biggest benefit has been saving time while helping our clients receive their money faster. It has reduced the administrative burden on me and allowed me to focus on other important accounting responsibilities. We also have more confidence that we are submitting the correct documentation the first time.
Our clients appreciate having a more streamlined process and clearer guidance about what is needed from them. Many have already been through a long insurance claim or legal process, so they are understandably frustrated when a mortgage company creates another obstacle to accessing their funds. iink helps us make that final stage easier for them.
If you regularly process insurance checks involving mortgage companies, I would absolutely recommend considering iink. The traditional process requires an enormous amount of administrative work and follow-up. iink helps simplify that process, reduces the burden on your staff, and helps clients access their funds sooner.

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), I identify, contact, and introduce iink to restoration professionals handling property and casualty (P&C) claims. A significant portion of my time is dedicated to ensuring that accurate information is entered for all prospects, contacts, leads, and companies
Since the beginning of my tenure at iink, I have deeply appreciated witnessing our commitments to clients come to fruition. Although iink initially processed all checks without fees or mortgage company constraints, our core objective was to transform the industry. Through enhanced transparency and the implementation of electronic signatures, we have successfully established ourselves as a mature and prominent presence in the market.
One that really stuck with me recently. I Our platform is designed to help clients elevate their business operations, and connecting with industry professionals who recognize the long-term value of partnering with iink is always rewarding. It feels especially gratifying when they re-engage—sometimes even two years later—to let us know they are ready to move forward.
Attorneys, in particular, often do not realize that iink is a system they can utilize in accordance with Bar guidelines. While a trust account is not mandatory, it remains an option if they prefer. Additionally, all submitted files can be downloaded for their use in PDF format.
When onboarding new clients, it is highly recommended to integrate iink into your discussions early in the process. Ensuring that the insured anticipates a call or an email from an iink associate significantly facilitates the advancement of the procedure.
I have been fortunate to begin the construction of a residence in Mexico. While a hands-on, on-site approach is rewarding, it is highly demanding. Virtually all of my time outside of professional obligations is dedicated to visiting the site and overseeing the project.
